Over the years, Indian cinema has seen several actors experimenting with the superhero theme. Now that there are certain examples to take cue from, let’s do a roundup of Bollywood stars that can do justice to the role of Superman:

Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn entered Bollywood with a bang. Son of action director, Veeru Devgan, Ajay was known as a risk taking actor in the initial part of his

career. His stunts were unmatched. Everyone remembers the stunt he did with two bikes in his debut film 'Phool Aur Kaante'. He didn’t stop there. The movies that followed saw more dangerous stunts. Whilst he did face many injuries owing to his heroics and stopped doing stunts, of late the movies like Singham have brought him back into his chosen realm. He shouldn’t have any issues slipping into the Superman shoes.

Shahrukh Khan

Contrary to what detractors say, Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Ra.One’ did set the cash registers ringing. And if there were any issues, they had more to do with the

script and direction of the movie. Seeing King Khan in the superman avatar seems like a really exciting prospect anyway.

Aamir Khan

He showed what he can do when put in a movie that has huge doses of action. ‘Ghajini’ saw Aamir’s eight pack abs, and his character was pretty brutal in

the movie, something which the perfectionist emoted quite brilliantly. His tryst with action goes back to 90s when he did films like ‘Ghulam’ and ‘Sarfarosh’. It won’t be a bad idea to induce that ‘perfection’ in the Superman role.

Akshay Kumar

When Ajay Devgn took a sabbatical from action movies, Akshay took up the mantle. He performed some awe-inspiring stunts and literally risked

his life. His ‘khiladi’ movies redefined the action genre and then he got married! This is when one saw his foray into comedy movies, and though he has been doing a damn good job of it, he has returned to his favourite action genre. And nothing would be more delightful than the Superman beating villains to the pulp and at the same time tickling our funny bones.

Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik has to be the top contender for the role. The heartthrob of the nation has proved his mettle in action movies with ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Krrish’. He has got

the perfect body and attitude that would go very well with the aura of Superman. Bollywood has never been short of hunk who have it in them to ‘save the world’. Is Hollywood listening?
